“Magdeburg!” Sasha said again. Heinrich had lost count of how many times she had said it like a curse word. She had at least stopped pounding the table as she said it.
“It’s 2 hours by train, and the Supporters club is getting us a discount on tickets for the season. It will be fine.” Klaus said.
“New Seats,” Paul said.
“New Supporters Club Bar too,” Uwe added. Everyone stopped and looked at him.
“Oh, like we have a chance of getting in,” Uwe said, ignoring the daggers Sasha stared at him.
“We can always volunteer to be part of the cleanup crew again,” Uwe said. “That might help.”
“You weren’t volunteered, you we’re…volun-told,” A new voice said. Everyone stopped and looked, and saw Coach Schmidt standing with a handful of mugs. “Here,” he said, setting them down on the table. “This seat taken? No? Thanks.” He sat with a mug of his own, and took a drink, as everyone else at the table stared at him.
“What?” he asked with a smile. “Coach can’t have a drink with his favorite fans?”
“You never come past the bar,” Sasha said, grasping a mug of beer in both hands. “Whay are you past the bar?”
“Maybe I just like hearing you say Magdeburg?” Coach replied, smiling over his beer.
Sasha eyes narrowed, and she took a drink.
“Look, it’s not like it’s Rostock, or god forbid Leipzig,” Coach said, setting his mug down after taking a healthy drink. “And someone at the Pokal thought we should ask Dresden-don’t!” He said, pointing at Sasha, who had taken a huge breath in preparation to scream.
She stopped, face turning red, then looked away, and sighed, taking anopther drink of her beer.
“Teach us your ways, Sensei!” Paul said, putting his hands together and bowing.
Coach just smiled, catching the look Sasha gave Paul.
“Later,” he replied. “Anyways, Magdeburg isn’t too bad. At least I found out in person, as opposed to the board doing it while I was camping.”
“Is that why you haven’t gone on vacation since?” Uwe asked. Coach looked at him over his own mug.
“Partially,” he replied, after setting it down. “And I like being a hands on sort of coach. And it takes time to do the job right and get people in you trust. And I trust my staff implicitly. And they trust me.”
The conversation devolved into stories and tales, coach buying dinner for everyone in the pub while he was there.
“How much longer are you planning on coaching?” Sasha asked.
Coach shrugged. “Frank was at Heidenheim what, 19 years before moving to BMG?”
Uwe and Paul both nodded.
“There comes a point where you’ve reached what you think you can do, and then you dig in, try to do more, succeed, and then it becomes almost too easy. So there’s a fine line between quitting while you are ahead, and quitting when it’s to late. My goal,” and he stopped for a moment, “Is to quit when I’ve reached that line, and leave the club in a good position going forward, so that the next coach can also accomplish great things.”
“And then what?”
“Travel the world. Find a nice beach, with some nice waves, and enjoy my somewhat large bank balance and relax.”
“Sounds-“
“Boring,” Sasha said. In response Coach smiled and shrugged.
“Could always go back to coaching, find a youth them somewheres-” Uwe stopped talking when Coach spit out most of the beer he was drinking.
“Are you serious?” Coach said after apologizing to everyone.
“I’ve got so many prima donna’s, and I mean that in the nicest way possible, on my team now, managing their ego’s and their agents ego’s in order to keep everyone happy, you want me to deal with them when they’re kids. And their parents?” The look on his face was one of shocked incredulity. He wiped his face with one of the towels the waitress had brought over.
Coach apologized repeatedly and helped clean up.
“Another round please Brigit,” coach said. “except for him,” he said, pointing at Uwe. “He’s already drunk.”
Brigit smiled and walked back to the bar.
“Youth coaching. God help me…” Coach muttered…
The screenshots are going to be a mishmash of skins, sorry about that.

This is the year we started spending bigly. We needed to, if we wanted to progress and challenge for the title.
First in is Andrey Stefanov, a very good, D(R) who can also play D(L) and AM(R). He’ll be the primary D(R) for us going forward:

Tatsuki Yoneyama may finally be the good young striker we are looking for. Hailing from Japan is Quick, Composed, with excellent First Touch and Finishing:

Zori Eliyahu-Coracos popped up on the screenflow, and I pushed a scout to him not expecting this. Then he had a falling out with his club, and wanted to leave, and I am more than happy to say we beat out a few other teams to land him. Excellent Passing Skills, Good Ball Control, I think he’s going to be our DLP(S) for a few years:

Junior Meye is a developmental signing, at 18 years old with that Passing Ability, good Movement, Good First Touch and better than average Final Third and Agility, he can only get better. The light-hearted personality is a concern, but I am not that worried about it:

Competition is healthy, and when other players moved on, someone has to step up and take their place, even if their preferred position is already filled. Andrey Stefanov is the starter at D(R), but someone who is just as capable as him, and just as capable of playing other position on the backline is Casper Koch:

I like that he is above average in all the key area’s, and being 21 he still has a couple of years of growth left, which means he will get better.
I am not going to cover all the outs, just some of them.
When I signed him, Jeppe Vinterberg had the potential to be a world class AM(C). He suffered a devastating hip injury about a month after we signed him, and he was never the same after that. He had a solid seasons on loan at Paderborn last year 8 and 7 in 27 appearances, but I have better players now.
Mantené Sountoura has been a solid bench player for us the last three seasons, and last year playing mostly D(L) he had some very solid games. I was looking at him to be the start this season, when Benfica of all teams came in with an unsolicited offer of €24.5M for him. I could not keep him after that, so out he went.
Christian Doughty was getting a little older, and a little slower, but when Nottingham Forrest came in for him he was incredibly interested in speaking to them. I think he just missed playing in England, and with the depth we have at the D(C) position, I was happy to let him go.
Mounir El Ouassli had 4 solid seasons with us, a solid, capable defender who would have had a stone cold lead pipe lock on the midfield for the next five years if he didn’t insist on a star player contract and a highest salary match clause. The third time he and his agent tried that, I said no, and listed him, and Inter picked him up the next day. I have no idea of they made him a Star Player though…
First Half of the Season
Our Champions League Group draw was not that bad”

I am confident we can finish top 24 with this draw.

We started strong, not losing a Bundesliga game until November, and losing to Atheltico by 1 in the CL Group.
Tatsuki, in a half seasons worth of worth of work, already has 10 goals, and thats despite not scoring at all in November. He and Osman have developed a very nice partnership, and whats been happening lately is the defensers have been forced to choose who to double, and lately it’s been Tastsuki, so Osman is left uncovered. My AMC’s, Viveros and Curbelo, are also scoring because the defenses have been focuses on shutting down my Strikers, letting them run a bit more wild.
I don’t know what happened in November. Freiburg is a good squad, losing to them took some wind out of our sails. The highlight of the month, if you can call it that, was not losing to Bayern. Our Champions League Run is going as expected though, close losses to Athletico and Sheffield United, a draw with Porto, and wins over everyone else.
We rebounded with a nice December, but draws at to midtable teams in Werder and HSV did not help. The only other good news is that for some reason all of the other good squads are having an off year as well, and its crowded at the top.
The the January Transfer window opened.

Real Madrid spent €107.5M to sign Bolzan and Schau, probably my best DM and D(C). Luckily I had been looking for a D(C)
I don’t know what it is with Lower League Italian teams and Defensive back’s this year, but they have been a fountain of good young players with astronomical potential. We had Luca Montanaro for a couple of seasons, and although we moved him on for a pittance (we bought him for €400K, sold him to FC RB Salzburg for €5.25M in the 29/30 season, he then went to Newcastle for €33M in the 31/32 season, then to RB Leipzig for €67M in the 33/34 in January, then to Man City for €65M in January of 36) he was quite for us at the time, but he never wanted to come back. Claudio Tessari is not only his spiritual successor, but has the chance to become even better than Luca. Unfortunately, somehow the only screenshot I have of him is from the 2040 season, I don’t know why:

He just came of a niggling injury, which is why his attributes have the down arrows next to them, but just imagine of the, 3-5 points lower, and that’s what he looked like when he joined.
Santiago Schwindt and Victor Manuel Roca I do not have screenshots for, I am not sure why, PBKAC error on my end obviously. Both are older players, Schwindt can play all the middle defensive positions, while Roca can play all the backline positions. I would trust either of them to be starters, but they will be coming off the bench in the short term.
The last out was a surprise, with Juve making and unsolicited offer for Abdoulaye Traoré. He was a fine season, with 7 goals and 4 assists, and until Juve made their offer, I didn’t think anyone was interested in him.

We got off to a good start, the highlight being a 7-1 thrashing of Lazio:

The matchstats do not make a lot of sense, do they? But we were 5-0 up at the half, and never took our foot off the pedal.
February was also a good month, as the only non points game was the loss at RB Leipzig.
Our Youth intake might have found another gem, this time Michael Keßler:

His Tackling and Agility are already quite good, and while my scouts and coaches keep vacillating between 3 and 4 stars, if he’s starting from here, I think he’s a 160+PA sort of player. I could be wrong, but even if he gets to around 140 that’s nothing to sneeze at.
The bad news is, we stumbled in April. The good news is, so did everyone else in the top 6.
Last week of the season was close. How close?

And here’s how it ended:

We beat BMG.
BVB and Bayern tied.
Freiburg beat Hoffenheim.
It was that close.
BUT WE WON THE BUNDESLIGA!!!
This was the teams overall performance this season:

Tatsuki had 22 goals, Osman had 15, Tenorio had the best all around season, and because we won all of the other teams are circling…
Atletico beat Bayern to win the Champions League, and then the best news of all came:

That along with a €103M transfer budget means out off season won’t be quiet, and I am looking forward to the next one!
